Problem Description
When saving to database, the date/timestamp is being updated on documents that were not modified by the user.  The symptom was introduced unintentionally in Release 7.1.
Specifically, when saving to database, every document that was retrieved is being sent back as an update, whether the user changed the document or not.  This does not affect documents that the user did not retrieve.
Additionally, a related issue has been reported, where the application will display an error when importing a .pdf document while the .pdf is open.

Solution
The application will be modified to recognize documents that were retrieved but not modified and will no longer treat those documents as updates.
Additionally, an error will no longer display when importing a .pdf document while the .pdf is open.

Coex County Users
Follow instructions provided by county IT staff.
Coex County IT Staff
Processes that successfully delivered Release 7.1 should continue to work with Release 7.1a. The installation package will be available in the staging area on CWS servers by 8am Wednesday, May 28.

ATTENTION - Dedicated County Users
Dedicated county users should log out of Windows (via log off, restart or shut down) at least one time on May 28 or May 29, prior to Release 7.1a Implementation.  When logging back in during that time, the R7.1a cwscms.msi file will be copied to the workstation via the login script where it will await installation on 5/29/14.
Users should log off the CWS/CMS application and county LAN, but leave the workstations powered on, the night of May 29, 2014 so the installation can complete overnight.  Otherwise the installation will take place the next time the workstation is powered on.
Remote users should plan to bring their workstations into the office on as soon as possible to complete their installation.

CWS/CMS Users please note:

  • It is strongly recommended that the user log off the application each night to ensure that they are working with the latest version of the application.
  • It is recommended that the install of Interim Release 7.1a occur via the county office network, as opposed to a remote connection.
  • The following step can be taken to check that the Interim Release has been delivered to the workstation.
    • From the Control Panel in CWS/CMS, click on Help > About. The version will be 7.1a.
  • Users that are logged onto the system when the release arrives will not be using the new code at their workstation.
  • Like major releases, Interim Release 7.1a will be using a full installation package.  This is an intentional departure from the way Interim Releases’ were handled before R.7.0.  There is no outage.

Down-Level Workstations:

To continue using CWS/CMS, all workstations must be brought up-to-date with Release 7.1a before Tuesday, June 10, 2014.  On workstations that do not yet have Release 7.1a, appropriate messages will appear after the user clicks OK on the CWS/CMS Control Panel Logon dialog.  The messages are shown below.
